Day two - Vikings and more Royal palaces!
Statutes to commemorate the Tour de France that held a stage Roskilde
I then went off to see the Roskilde Cathedral, which is were all the royals are buried even though the capital has moved to Copenhagen. It was very nice inside (I wasn't sure if I could take photos so I have not taken any) and full of lots of interesting mausoleums but what was really unique is that the Cathedral is an example of medieval brick work.
I then headed back in to the centre of Copenhagen to take a look at the Crown Jewels.
Oh! I should also mention I travelled on a Double decker train to and from Roskilde.
I got back in to the City and headed to the Rosenborg Place where the Crown Jewels are kept and is Late Medieval castle, dark and wood paneled. The Jewels themselves were standard but there was a beautiful emerald necklace and earing set that was beautiful.
The weather was a bit hit and miss today (and would be for the next day or so) but before I headed back to Orestad I went to the meat packing District to check out the micro beweries. It being Sunday not much was open but I found a great pop up called Absen that had a lovely pastry stout called 'Nighcap'. That went down well!
I had dinner in the food court at Fields in a place called The American. While an American style dinner it did have a distinctly Danish twist on a burger. I had a Club Sandwich which was a chicken breast in brioche bun with bacon, gherkin and curry sauce. It was very nice.
